Appointments
Appointments can usually be scheduled within one week or less. Missed appointments or cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice may be subject to payment for the session. Confidentiality
Information shared with me in counseling sessions is kept in strictest confidence and not disclosed to others without your written permission. In cases where there is a potential threat of harm to self or others, I am required by law to intervene to minimize the risk of harm.
Insurance
I am a preferred provider on several insurance plans including Aetna, Blue Cross, Cigna, Companion, ComPsych, Corphealth, Employee Resource Systems, ProNet, SC State Employees (APS), United Behavioral Health/United Healthcare, and Value Options. Check to see if I am a provider on your plan. If you wish to utilize your insurance, you are responsible for obtaining authorization for treatment before your appointment (if required), and paying the co-payment at each session, as well as any fees not covered by insurance.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
Some employers provide counseling services as a benefit to employees and members of the employee's household. Typically there is no cost to the employee for a contracted number of counseling sessions. I am a contracted provider for a number of national EAP plans and have more than 12 years experience in the field. In addition, I am a Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP). Check with your human resources manager to see if your employer provides this benefit.
Emergencies
I am not available 24 hours a day. If you are in crisis, you may try calling me at (843) 766-4004 and enter the * key, followed by your phone number. If I do not respond within 30 minutes or if your situation is critical, contact your physician, call 911, or go to the nearest hospital emergency room. You may also contact the 24 hour Hotline number at (800) 922-2283 or the Charleston area Mobile Crisis Unit, which handles mental health emergencies,at (843) 414-2350.
Ethical Standards
As a South Carolina Licensed Professional Counselor, I adhere to the ethical guidelines established by the State Board of Counselors, as well as those of The American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. |
